According to the UN, 68% of the world’s population will live in urban areas by 2050. If nothing changes, this will lead to a decrease in urban liveability and accessibility. As more children are living within densifying cities, it becomes increasingly urgent to create a child-friendly public realm.  
Active mobility plays a vital role in contributing to a solution.

International Conference on Climate Action ICCA 2019

The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the State of Baden-Württemberg and the City of Heidelberg will jointly host the International Conference on Climate Action – ICCA2019 – in Heidelberg on May 22 and 23 2019. The conference will bring together leaders and decision makers from states, regions and cities as well as stakeholders and experts from around the world.

Bike to school

From 4th to 24th June 2018 the bike to school competition "Münchner Schulradeln" was held in Munich for the first time. In the three-week campaign period 4th graders and secondary school students were encouraged to cycle actively to school instead of being brought by car. Students, teachers and parents competed together as a team for their school against the other schools. Each team nominated a team captain. The aim was to cycle as many kilometers as possible. Therefore, all kilometers cycled were listed online or via app.

On September 16th in 2018 a big bike rally took place in Riemer Park in the east of Munich. About 600 children and teenagers between the ages of four and 14 years and their families participated. In total there were 17 stations to explore under the motto "discovering the world".

LENDWIRBEL
